  • 1. What is the most important resource you would recommend for us to help in the process of starting a new church? +

    • CCCC Treasurer's Handbook is an invaluable resource when you are starting a new church particularly if you will want to be able to issue CRA tax receipts for donations received.

    • There is a tremendous amount of information also available directly from the CRA Website based on your situation.
  • 2. How do we become an official CBAC Church? +

    Brand New Church:
    • CRA charity registration number-see the CCCC handbook regarding this process and the requirements
    • CBAC Association-apply to become a recognized church in your Association
    • Oasis General Conference-ask for the church to be voted into the CBAC organization.

Please see the above resources in PDF format with information regarding this.
  • 3. We are merging with another church or other churches, what do we do? +

When churches merge there are a couple of options for how to proceed with CRA status. The first and recommended option is to take on the charity number of one of the churches and "close" the other number(s).
You could close both of the charity registrations down and start a brand new one but this will require that you start at the very beginning with the CRA process to get a new charity registration number.

This is discussed in great detail in the CCCC Handbook. See the link above.
  • 4. How do we close a church? +

Whether you are merging with another registered "like" charity, or if the church is no longer viable and is closing, there is a procedure that must be followed with regard to closing the charitable number.
  • 5. Our church family wants to start a new church. Should it be a SITE of the current church, should it be a STAND-ALONE church, or are there other options? +

Leadership must prayerfully decide what is the best option for their local congregation. There are advantages and disadvantages so we would encourage you to reach out and talk with Kevin (This email address is being protected from spambots.
